This guide is written for smooth leather (full grain, corrected grain, and most classic leather uppers). If you have suede or nubuck, stop here and use a dedicated suede kit.

Quick method (the 60 second overview)

Remove dust and grit with a brush or soft cloth
Wipe lightly with a slightly damp cloth, then let dry
Apply a thin layer of polish
Wait 5 to 10 minutes
Brush to a shine

Simple. Repeatable. Better for the leather than random “more product must be better” experiments.

Step by step shoe care routine

1) Dry clean first

Before you apply any polish, remove surface dust and grit. This matters because rubbing polish over fine grit can dull the finish.

Recommended tools:

Technical cleaning brush: MS-B1
Or a soft cloth if your shoes are only lightly dusty

Our brushes use natural bristle that is gentle on leather and helps lift dust from seams and edges.

2) Light damp wipe (optional but recommended)

For everyday city dirt and fine dust:

Use the flannel cloth MS-C1
Slightly dampen the cloth with clean water
Wipe the shoe gently, then let it dry fully

Do not apply polish onto wet leather. The surface should feel dry to the touch.

3) Apply polish in a thin layer

A good polish routine is about thin layers, not thick coats.

Use natural shoe polish: MS-P1
Put a small amount on a cloth or applicator
Work in small circles
Focus on high wear areas (toe, sides, heel counter)

If you can see obvious thick paste sitting on top, it is too much. The leather should be fed, not plastered.

4) Wait 5 to 10 minutes

Let the polish absorb and settle. A slight matte look is a good sign. This short resting time helps the natural ingredients do their job inside the leather.

5) Brush to a shine

Finish with a polishing brush:

Horsehair polishing brush: MS-B2
Brush briskly with light pressure

For extra shine, repeat the cycle once more: thin polish, 5 to 10 minutes, brush again.
